Interesting experiment Susan. I myself am usually hesitant of following people with private feeds and happily started following you on Twitter now.
Out of curiosity, why would it matter if the percentage of spammers that follow you on Twitter increases? They still can't contact you directly without you following them and anyone can @ you.
